Start a Team
A simple path for bringing Odyssey of the Mind to your students.
Starting is simpler than it looks.
Odyssey teams can be formed through schools, community organizations and other eligible programs. The important first step is bringing together interested students and an adult who can coach the process.
- See whether Odyssey is already nearby. Open the Team & Coach Map to find participating schools and organizations in your area.
- Reach out to Maine Odyssey of the Mind. Contact us with questions or for help connecting with a local program.
- Bring together interested students. A team is typically made up of five to seven students who are ready to create, collaborate and take ownership of their work.
- Choose an adult coach. Coaches schedule meetings, keep the team organized and ask questions that help students think.
- Secure an Odyssey membership. Each participating school or organization needs a current membership for the season.
- Choose a Long-Term Problem. Review the current problem previews, then let the students decide which challenge excites them.
- Start creating and practicing. Use the Resource Library, coach training and Spontaneous Studio throughout the season.
